The City of Montague kicked off the White Lake Bike Program in May 2023, with the support and sponsorship of the Downtown Development Authority, Montague Police Department, Muskegon County Bicycling Coalition, and the White Lake Area Climate Action Committee. The purpose of the program then and now is to provide an alternative mode of transportation that encourages exercise within the City and along the bike trail for residents and visitors of all ages. The fleet of donated bicycles and helmets are available for use at five designated bicycle racks, for free, throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Providing alternative transportation helps participants get exercise, save on fuel costs, reduce traffic congestion during the summer season, lessens the carbon footprint of the White Lake Area, and will facilitate the continued development of a unique bicycle-friendly community.

The City of Montague is on the path of expanding the White Lake Bike Program and are currently developing a more eye-catching logo. Stay tuned for updated signage and brochures in the spring!
