Important Information About Payments to the City of Montague

• All City of Montague bills can be paid in person at City Hall, via U.S. mail, by placing them in the drop box located at the Library entrance, or online. You can also pay tax and utility bills via phone 24/7 (1-844-627-2479). A $0.95 fee is charged for this service, in addition to card or EFT processing fees.

• Credit or Debit card payments may incur a fee from the card processor:

• There is NO fee for water/sewer bill payments.
• The fee for property tax payments is 3.25% of the bill amount or $1.95 minimum.
• The fee for all other types of city bills is 3.25% or $2.95 minimum.

• An electronic check/EFT-check option is also available as a payment method. For the EFT-check option, you need to enter your bank account information to send your payment electronically. The fee for EFT-check is $1.95 regardless of the amount you are paying.

• Registering your Montague tax and utility account allows you to view and print current and past bills, sign-up for bill reminders, set-up and modify auto-pay, schedule payments and access many other payment features.

• Automatic payments can be made from a checking or savings account or by Debit/Credit card. Debit and Credit card automatic payments are subject to a convenience fee. Sign up for automatic payments. There is no charge for automatic payments unless a Credit or Debit card is used.
• Paperless billing statements are also encouraged. Sign up for paperless billing.
• Pay by Text – Enroll in Pay by Text to receive text notifications about bills and have the option to pay through text message with your default payment method. Sign up for pay by text.

• Missing, lost, or undelivered bills do not exempt you from payment.

• Postmarks are not accepted as paid on time. If the due date falls on a weekend or a holiday, payments the next business day are accepted as paid on time.
